A group of French postage due stamps showing two types of cancellations. Some are pre-cancelled with typographic markings applied in advance for bulk or internal postal use. Others are cancelled by hand with a triangular obliteration, used when regular cancelling devices were unavailable or when postage due was applied directly at delivery. Together they illustrate the range of methods used to mark postage due stamps in different periods.
